Little Compton's Wilbur and McMahon's Middle School (grades 6 through 8) is RI's only International Baccalaureate® public school!

Our Wilbur and McMahon School is one of the top in the state (and RI's only public IB school). Our middle school students will now be ever more prepared for secondary school and beyond as their learning is placed in deeper and wider contexts that challenge and engage them. Below is a quick primer on what the IB designation means:

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) emphasizes intellectual rigor. It encourages middle-school students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, preparing them for success in further study and in life.

What the Middle Years Programme (MYP) offers students:

The MYP aims to develop active learners and internationally-minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

Kudos to the superintendent, principal, teachers, IB coordinator, and the school committee who brought it all together for our students!
